The beginning of the school year leads with trepidation to first-year students and parents, who raise their child from the mother’s hand, like a bird, to the heights and from the father’s embrace, like a nest, to the depths of knowledge and companionship called – school.
That’s how St. Sava Academy nested a mother’s favorite son and a father’s favorite daughter, preparing them from church to school.
The school year began with the holy liturgy on Sunday, and the teaching year with a prayer act and the consecration of water for the better progress of the school and the success of the students.
Prayer and God’s blessing spread from the hands of the clergy into the hall and school classrooms, sprinkling holy water on the heads of the little ones, who accompanied this act with shy smiles and playful movements.
Today, the entire expanse was sanctified by their prayers, resounding with the voice of a pure soul and solar reason.
May this spiritual idyll strengthen us in times when only the memory of their smiles and joy will attract children’s eyes and strengthen us in old age. While, we will accompany their children to the same school desks where we raised, educated and gave birth not only to their parents but also to the school, preserving it for generations and constellations of Orthodox saints.
May our congratulations to the first-year students this school year be addressed to all parents and generations, both abroad and in the homeland, from the pen and mouth of the children’s writer and creator, Ljubivoje Ršumović:
